Swiftwater Rescue Clinic

Event Date:
Saturday, February 18, 2017 - 8:00am to Sunday, February 19, 2017 - 5:00pm

Are you a boater (hardshell, IK, raft, etc.) interested in improving your safety on the river? Marcel Bieg, ACA-certified instructor, will host a 2-day clinic that will give you a solid foundation of rescue skills and knowledge for safer boating. The emphasis will be on self-rescue but other topics include: water dynamics, hazards and obstacles, using rescue equipment, and more. Experience with river and whitewater activities and travel is required.

The clinic will meet at the OP Barn (1225 E. 18th Ave.) at 8:00am then depart each day to a local river for on-the-water instruction, returning to the OP Barn by 5:00pm each evening. Your own equipment is required, but if you do not have a boat, wetsuit/dry top, helmet, or PFD, come to the OP Barn (1225 E. 18th Ave.) to rent gear! After you register at the OP Barn or OP Office in the EMU, Marcel Bieg will contact participants with more preliminary information. This two-day clinic costs $55, plus rentals if needed.
