H.O.P.E.S.(23) Bike Tour & Hike!

Event Date:
Saturday, April 8, 2017 - 9:30am to 2:00pm

Join us as we explore the idea of "displacement" both on and off our saddles. As a part of the H.O.P.E.S. (23) Conference, we'll bike to Mt. Pisgah where we will hike to the top and learn from Landscape Architecture professor Whitey Lueck about the displacements our southern Willamette Valley has undergone. From Pisgah, we'll bike back into town to chat with local advocate Philip Carrasco to hear of Eugene's efforts in becoming a designated sanctuary city. Participants should come prepared with questions, ready for riding near potentially high traffic volumes, and be comfortable with climbing hills. A REQUIRED PRE-TRIP MEETING WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE OUTDOOR PROGRAM EMU OFFICE SPACE AT 7:30PM THURSDAY, APRIL 6TH.

Details: Departs from the Outdoor Program Barn at 9:30 am Saturday April 8 and return by 2 pm. Touring bicycles may be rented from the OP for $5. Helments can be rented at no charge. All participants must have a helmet, closed shoes, plenty of water and a picnic lunch. Contact Halley at hra@uoregon.edu or 8655915967 with any questions.
