Attention paddlers! Need an excuse to get out on the river? Want to learn how to tear up a surf wave? Join ACA ITE Marcel Bieg and ACA Instructor Brad Leuenhagen for a combined pool session and day outing focused on developing your playboating skills. During the clinic we will work to improve paddle skills and body movement relevant to using a playboat on the river. In order to participate you must at least be comfortable performing a wet exit from your boat. The river outing will take place on either the lower McKenzie river or the Bend whitewater park depending on skill level and participant interest.
In this course, you'll learn:
·The 10 Commandments of Freestyle Kayaking
·6 Drills to refine your pool roll into a reliable combat roll
·5 Tricks to help you fully "commit" to aggressive and effortless vertical moves
Specific skills will focus on surfing, hole riding and all modern day play moves to elevate all aspects of boat control and kayaking skill.
Pool Session: Wednesday September 14th, 5:00pm - 8:00pm @ UO SRC Lap Pool
***Attendance at the pool session is required in order to go on the outing.
Outing: Saturday September 17th, 7:00am - 5:00pm @ either the McKenzie river or Bend whitewater park

"Play-boating is arguably the best and fastest way to become stronger, more confident, more flexible and more comfortable paddler. I like to think of play-boating like visiting the gym; we workout at the gym to become stronger and faster in order to be better prepared for the field, mountain or trail. Play-boating works in much the same way. Explosive bursts of efficient and athletic paddling, equals better control, which equals more fun. Yes Fun, the reason we are all out here in the first place." Marcel Bieg - ACA Level IV Whitewater Kayak Instructor Trainer & sponsored athlete
