Crater Lake Snowshoeing Geology Outing

Crater Lake Snowshoeing Geology Outing
Event Date:
Saturday, February 6, 2016 - 7:00am to 7:00pm

Do you want to welcome February in the snow? Join the Museum of Natural and Cultural History, The Outdoor Program and two Geology guest lecturers on a day trip to Crater Lake! The first half of the trip will consist of a guided tour by Geology PhD candidates, Win Mclaughlin and Dylan Colón. Then, we will break for lunch and have free time to explore.

Participants need to bring their own lunch and a water bottle. The Museum is providing light snacks. It is essential for everyone to have their own snowshoes, poles, waterproof boots, and layered clothing with waterproof shell and no cotton. We will go over appropriate clothing and supplies in more detail at the pre-trip meeting. If you need to rent gear the Outdoor Program Barn has a limited number of snowshoes and supplies available. You can also rent gear from Berg’s Ski and Snowboard Shop located close to campus on 367 West 13th Ave, Eugene, OR 97401.

This is a long drive--six hours round trip in one day so please come to barn at 6:45 am so we can get loaded and depart by 7:00 am. All Skill Levels Welcome.

This trip is limited to 24 participants
