Banff Mountain Film Festival
One of our annual traditions is the Banff Mountain Film Festival. For 40 years, 18 years in Eugene, the Outdoor Program has sponsored and held the Banff Mountain Film Festival at the historic McDonald Theatre in downtown Eugene. The Banff Mountain Film Festival is the world’s premier outdoor movie tour. After expanding to a two-night event in 2000, attendance has grown every year, attracting sell-out crowds. We partner with prominent local and national outdoor companies to provide great raffle prizes to show patrons, and the lines for the showings often form hours before show time.
Each year the Outdoor Program chooses a local charity to whom we donate a portion of our proceeds. Our benefactor for the 2016 Banff Mountain Film Festival is Eugene Mountain Rescue. "Eugene Mountain Rescue is a volunteer organization based in Eugene, Oregon. Our primary mission is to provide search and rescue personnel for situations requiring mountaineering skills in rock, glacier, snow and steep terrain in support of the Lane County Sheriff. In addition to search and rescue work, EMR volunteers work in the community to promote outdoor safety and safe mountaineering practices. We do this through community education projects and educational programs in schools."
